Website Accessibility Testing
We offer a website accessibility testing service to assist business and government agencies to comply with the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
OPC consultants can perform a full accessibility audit of your website and report on the level of conformance to the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
We test against WCAG 1.0, the guidelines currently required for Australian government sites, and the new WCAG 2.0. WCAG 2.0 became an official W3C recommendation in December 2008.
The audit results in a detailed report stating your level of conformance and advising on accessibility barriers that we identify. We also include comprehensive recommendations on how to rectify the issues, with code examples as required.
Our accessibility consultants have assisted a number of high profile government departments with testing, site audits, training and consultancy. We regularly advise on accessible design and coding issues, and we have helped departments to implement and streamline their own internal processes for ensuring ongoing accessibility of their websites and intranets.
The Australian Human Rights Commissioner has publicly complained that many government sites are not adequately addressing the needs of users with disabilities and has begun naming and shaming agencies.
