The day is almost here when Brett and Mark head off on the trip south to Bendigo for the start of the annual Camp Quality esCarpade.  This happens to be the 20th year of esCarpade and we’ll be tracking along the original route taken all those years ago, some 3,500 kilometres.

Mark has ‘Woody’ our Kingswood running beautifully and we’re really looking forward to getting underway

Our send off this year will again be from ActewAGL House in Civic and we have an open invitation to come along and bid us farewell.  We are very pleased and excited to say that AFP are going to be joining us again and this time will be leading us in a grand cavalcade out of Canberra down Northbourne Avenue along with members of the Harley Owners Club.  Kenny Koala is going to be there and a number of the CQ families.  It should be quite a sight and great to attract some media attention for Camp Quality and all our sponsors.

You can never be sure with media however we are expecting Win TV, Radio 104FM, Canberra Times and of course one of our major sponsors – City News.  If you have a camera please bring it along.

To those of you who are sponsors we can but say a very big thank you for your time effort and in many cases MONEY!  It’s a great cause and could not be done without everyone’s support.

Fundraising Breakfast - Social Media in Sport Today

Last Thursday at the National Press Club OPC IT, Camp Quality and it sponsors hosted a panel on Social Media and its impact on Sport Today. A big thank you to our panel, MC Tim Gavel from 666 ABC, Raiders CEO Don Furner, Brumbies CEO Andrew Fagan, Tip Gloria, Social Media Strategist from George Patterson  and former New Zealand Cricket International Chris Cairns.

The morning was a huge success with over 150 people in attendance. Thank you to our panel and our sponsors, ActewAGL, City News, Lenovo and Sign Projects in Fyshwick for your support. Whilst the total amount raised is being finalised it will be very close to $9,000. 

I also wanted to thank Heidi Bock from Camp Quality who showed us that Laughter really is the best Medicine, thanks Heidi.

In 2010 OPC was proud to be a part of the Camp Quality esCarpade that raised $1.3 million for kids with cancer.

The 20th anniversary Camp Quality esCarpade will kick off in Bendigo on Friday the 14th October and will wrap some 3400 kms later in Bright on Friday the 21st. This years esCarpade retarces the original route of 20 years ago.

OPC IT looks forward to brining you updates on the adventours of the Camp Quality Fun Police and our trusty Woody as we begin our 2011 journey on August the 18th. Stay tuned for updates on more exciting events as we head towards the the start of this epic journey in October.
